“No phones, no lights no motor cars, not a single luxury.”*  Life is simple, it is all the distractions that surround us that makes it complex.  For many millennia, the desert has been the go to retreat from the distractions of everyday life and for cleaning the clutter out of the mind.  When there is a “need to get out of the office”, then bring your group out of the office and into nature.

Group members on excursions into nature must rely on each other in different ways.  This is not your run of the mill, three-legged sack race type retreat.  Nature provides the parameters for problem solving.  “Nature Is”, and though nature is always changing, we cannot change nature.  It becomes necessary to learn to work with what nature provides and learn to work with everyone in the group.  How do we navigate from here to there?  How do we start a fire to cook our meals?  How do we make a shelter to stay dry at night?  These real life situations and many more create the opportunity for working together to find solutions.  And, when members of a team must rely on each other for the bare necessities of life, enduring bonds are created.

When you need to get out of the office, come to Desert DAWN.  We will provide the means for a perspective changing experience.   Do you have facilitator that is organizing a leadership training with a backcountry component?  We will gladly orchestrate the backcountry aspects of the journey.   Are you looking for a leadership training facilitator? We can recommend Denisoff Consulting Group, whose owner, Michael Denisoff, has worked with us several times and knows this backcountry well.

Let’s Hike, Camp, Explore, and Discover!

Information on dates, rates and reservations is available on our Excursion Reservations page.
