Which hike to choose?

We feel that part of our role as guides is to match the individual or group to the hike based on our knowledge of the many hikes that are available.  Let us know the category of day hike that interest you and your ability level, and we will arrange an appropriate hike based on the weather patterns we can expect when you visit (some locations are simply not safe for hiking under certain weather conditions).  Whenever possible, we prefer to meet you the night before and discuss hike options and refine the plan for the hike.  Frequently there are a few hikes that will meet your criteria and we will discuss the benefits and challenges of each before choosing a hike.

Dates and Rates

Dates.  Day hikes are available throughout the year. Most visitors come to our area in the spring, summer and the fall, though even in the winter hiking can be pretty amazing.  Learn more about the Four Seasons of Hiking Near Boulder, Utah.

Rates.  The day hikes start at $95 per hiker, minimum rates apply.   Rates include local taxes.   We strive to pay the guides a fair rate for the day, thus gratuity for the guide is optional.

Large Groups.  We can accommodate hikes with large groups.  The group size limit for most areas is 12, however some areas within the Grand Staircase, Escalante National Monument allow up to 25 people.  Please contact us regarding the hiking opportunities for large groups.

Reservation Policies

Hikes may be reserved as late as the day prior provided a guide is available.

A deposit of $50 is required to make a hike reservation.

If a hike is already booked for a date and an alternate guide is not available, we will communicate with the previously booked guests to determine if it is acceptable for the second party to join the hike.  In these circumstances the rate for the hike will be shared among the parties.

Cancelation Policies

We recognize that plans change and we strive to be as flexible as possible with guests.  If your plans change as your vacation unfolds, please let us know.  We will make every effort to accommodate your needs.  We will happily refund your deposit, less $5.00 to cover processing fees, if you cancel your reservation in a timely manner.   Your deposit will however be forfeited should you cancel your reservation within 72 hours of the start of your hike.

Hikers are expected to provide accurate information regarding their physical condition and hiking ability.  The guide has the sole discretion to alter or change the hike should the guide decide that the the guest are not up for the challenges of the planned hike.

Beautiful skies just a half hour earlier turned to potential flash flood weather that dictated staying out of slot canyons. We received not a drop of rain, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW!!!

Weather.  Rainy day hikes in the desert  are some of the most spectacular hikes, if you are prepared and know where not to be.  The guide has the sole discretion to alter or change the hike should the guide determine that the weather conditions are not appropriate or safe for the planned hike.    On the very rare occasion that the weather forbids us from engaging in any hike, we will gladly refund your deposit.  (The best thing to do on these days is to find one of our wonderful local restaurants and  enjoy your favorite beverage and a meal.)
