The Foundational Backcountry Skills course is the second in the Wilderness Pathfinder Adventure series. Building on the foundational Backcountry Knowledge course (WPA 1), we introduce additional traditional tools that early explorers and pioneers would have carried on their adventures into the wilderness. Using these tools, the resources they found in nature and their skills they were able to fashioning wooden tools, implants or furniture to make their tasks easier and their wilderness homes more comfortable. The tools include bucksaws, axes and tomahawks, bit and brace drills and traditional wood carving tools, such as gouges, chisels and crooked knives. We will use these tools as the explorers and pioneers did to improve our lives around camp.
