Wilderness Pathfinder Adventures – Clothing and Gear List

This page contains the standard gear list for the Wilderness Pathfinder Adventures.  The actual gear list for a specific Adventure may differ based on various factors.  Your actual gear list will be sent to you once you have registered for one of the Wilderness Pathfinder Adventures.  This clothing and gear list is in two parts: the first part includes the items that each participant should bring to the Adventure; and the second part includes the items that Desert DAWN provides.  For information on each item, links are provided at the bottom of the page.  We are happy to help, please call or email us with questions.

Part 1: Items That Each Participant Should Bring to the Adventure


  • Hat with brim (1)

  • Shirt, lightweight cotton long-sleeve button down (1)

    • Long john top, wool
    • Sweater, lightweight wool

Part 2: Desert DAWN Provided Gear and Personal Care Items

Most of the gear used on our Wilderness Pathfinder Adventures is based on 19th century backcountry gear and is a bit out of the ordinary in today’s world of backpacking.  We provide most of the gear giving you the opportunity to try this style of camping before investing in the gear.  Many people find this style to be quite exciting and want to continue using the basic gear.  If this happens to be you, we will help you find sources for the gear.  The following items will be provided by Desert DAWN. If you have your favorite of these items, you may feel free to bring it.  Please let us know if you plan to bring an item of gear so that we will not have it set aside for you.
